Copy of the petition for mercy of Walter Mitchell, aged 17 years, student of the University of Aberdeen [Aberdeenshire], taken prisoner by the [Jacobite] rebels from his family home in Buchan [Aberdeenshire] by Lord Pitsligo's men, imprisoned in Montrose [Angus], and now a prisoner in New Gaol in Southwark [Surrey] convicted of high treason. He pleaded not guilty at trial, but could not prove the [Jacobite] rebels had continued to use force to keep him, and so was found guilty. Filed with:
