Folio 146. Captain Stratford Eyre to Duke [of Newcastle], concerning prisoners in Tilbury Fort [Essex] and those held onboard the transports anchored there, sent with a list of those prisoners selected by lot to be sent for trial, and also 'a return of those sent hither in the [vessel] Furnace' [not filed here]. All but one of the other prisoners has signed a petition for the King's mercy. Dated at Gravesend [Kent]. Enclosing:
Folio 147. List of the 17 [Jacobite] prisoners on whom the lots fell for trial at Tilbury, with age, rank and regiment: Lewis MacKenzie; Alexandr [Alexander] McLeod; Donald McDonald; Alexandr [Alexander] Wishart; Willm [William] Maver; Alexandr [Alexander] Grant; Donald Grant; John McDonald; Andr [Andrew] Hood; John Keysack; Alexandr [Alexander] Ross; Ewen Cameron; John McDonald; Thos [Thomas] Nairn; Keneth McKenzie; Donald McKenzie; Ewen Cameron. Certified by Lieutenant Wm [William] Moore 'in Batereaus' [Battereau's regiment?] and surgeon John Kirkes.
