Folios 144-145. Lieutenant General R [Roger] Handasyd [Handasyde] to [unknown], in support of Robert Randal, formerly an excise officer, now a [Jacobite] prisoner condemned at Carlisle [Cumberland]. States that, at Berwick [Northumberland, Berwickshire], his scouts captured Randal who claimed he was on his way to surrender to Marshal Wade on promise of a pardon. States he provided useful details of rebel numbers and troop movements southwards from Kelso [Roxburghshire], and made no attempt to escape imprisonment. Dated at Gaynes Hall, [Perry, Cambridgeshire, Huntingdonshire].
