Folios 76-77. Jno [John] Sharpe to Duke [of Newcastle], concerning the trial of [Jacobite] prisoners. Alexander Kinloch and Charles Kinloch, brothers [to Sir James Kinloch] were both captains in Lord Ogilvie's regiment. Their counsel Mr Gordon and Mr Jodrell argued that, as Scotsmen, they were required to be tried in the jurisdiction of Scotland. The question was considered but over-ruled by the Lord Chief Justice [of the Common Plea, Sir John] Willes, Sir Michael Foster, and Mr Baron Clive. Mentions Sir John Strange and attorney general [Sir Dudley Ryder]. Also, Andrew Wood, a captain in Colonel John Roy Stewart's regiment captured at Culloden, found guilty. Dated at St Margaret's Hill [Southwark, Surrey].
