Folio 13. Affidavit of William Horn and Alixr [Alexander] Adam, both from Kirktown, Inverness-shire. Concerning James Paterson a curier [courier?] from Banff [Banffshire]. Both attest that around 20 December 1745, Patterson stopped at Adam's house in Kirktown. While there he told them that the Laird of Grant was marching his clan home. To prove this he produced two letters from Grant to the Lairds of McLeod and Culcairn. He showed both deponents the directions on the backs of the letters, in the presence of Alxr [Alexander] Chruckshank. Witnessed by Alixr [?Alexander] Duff, Justice of the Peace for the county of Aberdeen. Dated at Hatton in Aberdeen [Aberdeenshire].
