Description

Folios 94-95. Letter from Lord Chief Baron Parker, Judge J Burnett, Judge T Denison, and Baron Cha [Charles] Clark to the Duke of Newcastle, concerning prosecutions [of Jacobites at Carlisle, Cumberland] and notifying him of dates appointed for executions at Brampton [Cumberland] and Penrith [Cumberland]. The letter also states that there are 75 prisoners currently being dealt with in York [Yorkshire]. Dated at York. Enclosing:

Folios 96 - 97. List summarising the cases of several of the [Jacobite] prisoners at Carlisle who have been tried, convicted, and appeared most guilty. Their names are: Thomas Coppock, son of a tailor, of Manchester [Lancashire]; John MacNaughton, who killed Colonel Gardiner; James Brand; Donald MacDonald of Ternadrish; John Henderson, writer in Scotland; James Ancram; Hugh Cameron; William Home, aged 14; Thomas Hayes; Edward Roper; Stephen Fitzgerald, a Frenchman; Michael Dellard; James Forbes; Richard Morrison, periwig-maker, of Edinburgh; Thomas Lawson; Alexander Hutchinson; Molyneux Eaton; Peter Taylor; Francis Buchanan, who wrote to Sir Thomas Sheridan; Donald MacDonald of Kinlockmoydart; William Beard; James Hay.
