Folios 80-81. Letter from Chr [Christopher] Pattenson, [High Sheriff], to the Duke of Newcastle, informing him that a new gaoler had been appointed at Carlisle Castle [Cumberland] after his predecessor was found to be negligent in his office. Adds that his sheriffs would have a permanent presence at the castle until the executions [of Jacobite Prisoners] are complete. Dated at Carlisle [Cumberland].
