Folios 53 - 57. Examination of John Walkinshaw, of Buckingham Street, in York Buildings [London, Middlesex], denying any role in the [Jacobite] rebellion, and clarifying his ties to several known rebels, viz, [John] Murray [of Broughton], Doctor Barry, Sir John Douglas, Lady Barrowfield, Lord Balmerino, his wife's relative George Hamilton 'now in York Castle [Yorkshire]', 'the two McGregors', and 'one Buchanan now in New Gaol [Southwark, Surrey]'. Also denies exchanging intelligence with rebels, explains correspondence with Mr Twycroft who lives with Colonel Graham at Pickhill [Yorkshire], identifies coded references to individuals, and claims no knowledge of An Ode upon the Victory at Gladsmuir the 21 September 1745 sent to his wife. Seal attached. Witnessed by T [Thomas] Waite. Dated at Whitehall. Enclosing:
Folio 58. Draft of letter from John Walkinshaw to G H [George Hamilton], concerning Hamilton's imprisonment for high treason, describing the execution of Lord Balmerino in the Tower [of London], and mentioning E_b_h, [Earl of] Rothes and Sir Charles Leslie who are in Flanders, [Lord Queensbury]. Dated 26 August 1746.
Folio 59. Draft of a letter from John Walkinshaw [to Mr Twycross], asking him to deliver the above letter to George Hamilton, not to make the contents known to anyone else, and mentionning 'the?Colonel, and Sir Henry'. Dated 26 August 1746.
Folio 60. Cover addressed to Mrs Wilkinshaw, and endorsed: 'taken at Mr Walkenshaw's house, Wm [William] Dick'. Dated 24 September 1746.
