Folio 147-148. Wm [William] Wreathocke [alias William White] to the Duke of Newcastle with intelligence of ship movements at Ostend and Dunkirk [France]. He mentions the vessels Charity, Bourbon, a frigate under Captain Plonkard [Plenckard?], a brigantine owned by Monsieur Savoige, Monsieur De'Clerk's dogger, De Vat's ship, and Brewer's great flyboat. He says Ruth's regiment marched for Dama near Bruges [France], and that 'the Pretender's Youngest son' [Henry Benedict Stuart] is in Boulogne. Relates conversation between his contact in Ostend, Savoige, and a Mr Ray, concerning possible enemy landing at Dover Castle [Kent]. Mentions the presence, in Campveer [Dutch Republic], of 150 'English, Irish and Scotch deserters from the French'. Also make a detailed argument for despatching intelligence from Sluce [Flanders] rather than via Campveer and the crown agent there Mr Steward. Dated at of Campveer.
