Donald McDonald, a [Jacobite] prisoner in Lincoln Castle [Lincolnshire], inn-keeper and hirer of horses, a 'poor man' yet 'born of the family of Sir Alexander McDonald', to Duke of Newcastle, asking him to secure liberty for his wife, Jean, a prisoner in 'west Chester Castle' [Cheshire?]. McDonald says he was pressed into [Jacobite] rebellion by Captain Alexander. Mentions General Campbell, Cornat Middletoun, and Erall of Murray. Dated at Lincoln Castle.
