Lengthy examination of Robert Fraser, concerning the events of 1744-1746, when secretary to Lord Lovat, confirming his birth in Ferrentosh [Ferintosh, Urquhart, Ross and Cromarty], and apprenticeship with William Chartres, town clerk of Kircaldie [Kirkcaldy, Fife]. Refers to: Lovat's Edinburgh 'doer' William Fraser [Junior]; his former secretary, Hugh Fraser, later a Captain Lieutenant; Sandie Fraser of Inverness [Inverness-shire], wounded at Culloden; Lovat's chief agent, Thomas Fraser of Gortuleg; John Frazer son of Hugh Fraser of Buchrubin; [John] Murray [of Broughton] and the Duke of Perth; correspondence with [Cameron of] Lochiel; Earl of Cromertie and his son, Lord [John] McLeod; Roderick McCulloch; Clunie McPherson; Raza McLeod and others from the Isle of Skye; Cameron of Callard; Lovat's chamberlain John Frazer, and maltman Donald McDonald, visiting Charles Fraser of Innerallachy; Lovat's groom, Reddel, and one McJames; pro-Jacobite correspondence with James Fraser of Foyers and John Fraser of Ferralin [Ferraline]; Correspondence with with Lord Loudoun, and the Lord President [Duncan Forbes]; Lovat pressing his son the Master of Lovat; Thomas Fraser mending the Lovat colours; troops billeted at Castle Donny [Dounie, Downie, Inverness-shire]; McKenzie troops readiness; Lovat's illness; County Aird muster [Inverness, Ayrshire?]; dispatch of 'white Ribbons, Flints, Bonnets & Brogues' to Inverness [Inverness-shire]; Lovat's imprisonment and escape; meeting with 'person called the French ambassador'; 'the old and young Lochiel, McDonnel of Keppoch and Cameron of Dungellon'; Prince Charles Edward [Stuart's] visit to Gortuleg after Culloden; and [lords] Barrisdale, Clanranald and Lochgary in?Morlingan.
