Folio 97. Earl of Findlater and Seafield to Duke [of Newcastle] enclosing a petition and attestations [in the case of James Innes of Cullen, Moray, a prisoner convicted of High Treason at Carlisle special commission]. Dated Cheam, Surrey. Enclosing:
Folio 98. Innes's petition for mercy stating how, 'by their threatening', he was prevailed upon by the [Jacobite] rebels to join them.
Folio 99. Affidavit sworn by William Mason, tide waiter in Cullen, on behalf of Innes, claiming he was forced to join the rebels by David Tulloch. Dated 12 September 1746 at Carlisle [Cumberland].
