Folios 81-83. Hen [Henry] Ibbetson, High Sheriff of Yorkshire, [to Duke of Newcastle?]. He seeks clarification on how soldiers should respond if prisoners seek to escape; refers to enclosed copies of two letters sent by 'one Walkinshaw of York Buildings' [London, Middlesex], agent to half pay officers in the West India Company, one to Mr Hamilton [not filed here], the other to 'one Mr Twycrosse'; praises the manufacturers of Manchester [Lancashire], enclosing a sample of millinery; and criticises Manchester's magistrates and population, reflecting on the 'worthless crew with which this town abounds'. Dated at Leeds [Yorkshire]. Enclosing:
Folio 82. Copy of letter from John Walkinshaw to Mr Twycrosse, urging him to discretely convey an enclosure to Mr Hamilton in York [Yorkshire], referring to the 'short time [Hamilton] has to live', stating that it may be shown to Sir Reginald Graham and [Colonel] Graham. Walkinshaw speaks of his own melancholy, especially on the 18th, when attending the last moments of 'the greatest man that ever lived' [Lord Belmarino?].
