Folio 70. Cabinet Minute, considering whether trials [of Jacobites] for High Treason might be held in Scotland. Attorney and Solicitor General to clarify whether those serving on Grand Juries need to be freeholder; seek Duke of Argyll view on whether the opinions of Lord Justice Clerk, 'the Lord Elchies' and the Lord Advocate should be sought on whether a Grand Jury would 'find a Bill of High Treason upon sufficient evidence'. Cabinet also considered election of magistrates in Edinburgh; and ordered the removal of the Master of Lovat to Edinburgh Castle. Present: Lord Chancellor; Earl of Harrington; Mr Pelham; Lord President of the Session; and Duke of Newcastle. Dated at 'Lord Harrington's'
