Description

Folio 77. Serjeant [at law] Math [Mathew] Skinner to [John] Sharpe, stating that judicial business in Chester [Cheshire] was 'not much', and that 60 [Jacobite] prisoners had petitioned for transportation. Grand Jury, under foreman Viscount Kilmarry [? Kilmorey], has agreed a Loyal Address. Asks recipient to inform Attorney [General Sir Dudley Ryder] that since the execution of rebels from 'notoriously disaffected' Manchester [Lancashire], 'those who were before bad are now grown worse' and 'the people cannot be reclaimed by mercy'. Mentions the conduct of [Thomas] Deacon's father. Dated at Flint [Flintshire].
