Folios 47-48. Thomas Ranken [Rankin], Church of Scotland clergyman, to Reverend James Forster [Foster] of London, seeking intervention in the case of Sir James Kinloch [Nevay] a prisoner in Southwark [Surrey]. Ranken vouches for Sir James' good character, and his moderate conduct during the Jacobite rebellion. He cites the good opinion of Sir James held by Mr Randal, a friend of Foster's, who had formerly lodged with Mr Hett in Poultry [London], and was also a friend of Dr Wisheart [William Wishart]. Ranken refers to being introduced to Foster by Mr Petrie in Lothbury [London]. Dated at Perth [Perthshire].
