Certificate in favour of Alexander Kinloch, brother of Sir James Kinloch [Nevay] of that Ilk a prisoner in New Gaol Southwark [Surrey] by Sir William Nairne of Dunsinnan and James Miln [signs Mylne] of Milnfield [? Annan, Dumfriesshire], justices for Angus and Perthshire. They declare that Alexander was late to join the [Jacobite] rebels, was moderate in his actions while with them, left following their return to Scotland, and that he did not take part in the Battle of Falkirk. He was unarmed when captured by Hessian Hussars. Dated at Rossie [Perthshire].
