Description

Folio 1. Philip Carteret Webb to Duke of Newcastle concerning the progress of trials against [Jacobite] prisoners. Mentions the conviction of Francis Buchanan of Arn Pryor [Arnprior, Stirlingshire] after a 9½ hour trial, the conduct of Mr [William] Noel, and receipt of a protest from 'a French officer' [Louis Drummond, Earl of Milford?] concerning the trial of James Hay, claimed as a French officer. Dated at Carlisle [Cumberland]. Enclosing:
