Description

Folio 3. Certification and declaration of loyalty to Church and state in favour of the late Sir William Murray of Spittlehaugh [Lanarkshire], [whose son Robert Murray is a Jacobite suspect], recalling his service to Marquis of Annandale as Deputy Lieutenant of Peebles [Peebleshire], his participation in the Church General Assembly, and the fact that he was a ruling elder in Lintoun [? Linton, Roxburghshire] parish. Signed by Tho [Thomas] Findlater, of Lintoun, and Alexr [Alexander] Robertson, of Edelston [Eddlestone, Peebleshire]. Endorsements by Stephen Paton [Patton] of Newlands [Peebleshire], Alexander Johnson of Lyne, and James Robertson of Edlestoun.
