Folio 2. Certificate in favour of Robert Murray [Jacobite] prisoner in Carlisle [Cumberland], by Ministers and Justices of the Peace of Peebles [Peebleshire], attesting to the loyalty of his father, Sir William Murray of Blackbarony, during the 1715 Rebellion, and his service to William Marquise of Annandale as Deputy Lieutenant. States that Robert was seduced by the 'folly and imbecility of youth' while in rebel-held Edinburgh in October 1745, but had 'soon repented'. Declaration signed by Alex Murray JP, John Haye JP, John Hay JP, Jos [Joseph] Hay Minr [Minister], James Haldine, Joh [John] Alexander, Wm [William] Lusthart Min [? Minster]of Edinburgh chaplain to his Majesty.
