Folios 423-425.
To: The Local Government Act Office.
From: 'D W', Woolwich [Kent].
Subject Matter: Letter, signed only 'D W', calling attention to the state of the drainage in Woolwich, as well as the state of the river, which is said to be 'terrible and dangerous, and far from properly looked after'. He submits that Woolwich's Parliamentary representatives ought to notice of what is going on - 'but as one lives on a hill and the others out of the neighbourhood, what can be expected of them beyond an election dinner or a placing a Servant out as Porter to a Club?!' They acknowledge that they are writing anonymously, but claim that they 'have no other way, but public print, to become a complainer'.
