To: Edward Sargent, Clerk to the Local Board of Health, Woolwich [Kent].
From: The Local Government Act Office.
Subject Matter: Draft letter acknowledging receipt of a letter dated 11 September 1858, enquiring whether the provisions of the Local Government Act 1858 apply to the Parish of Woolwich. Sargent is advised that the Parish Of Woolwich is only brought under the Metropolis Local Management Act by, and for the purposes of, the Special Provisions of Section 238, and that the Local Government Act 1858 came into force in the District of the Woolwich Local Board of Health on the 1 September 1858. The implications of the Act for the Burial Board of the Parish are also explained.
