To: The Home Secretary.
From: Thomas Davenport, Secretary of the Poulton-cum-Seacombe Ratepayers Association, Seacombe [Cheshire].
Subject Matter: Letter enclosing a newspaper cutting, detailing the result of the most recent audit of the accounts of the Wallasey Local Board. Davenport reports that the District Auditor, J K Roberts, has surcharged the Local Board a total of £381 13s 7d. He calls attention to his letter of 19 February 1869, in which he stated the principle grounds upon which the Ratepayers Association intended to oppose the passing of the accounts of the Local Board, and he now encloses a copy of the protest they sent, to Roberts, previous to commencing his audit, together with particulars of the deficiencies objected to them. Upon referring to the enclosed copy of Roberts' published report on the result of the audit, Davenport points out that the Auditor has embodied nearly all of the Ratepayers Association's objections.
