To: The Home Secretary.
From: Thomas Davenport, Secretary of the Poulton-cum-Seacombe Ratepayers Association, Seacombe [Cheshire].
Subject Matter: Letter advising that the Wallasey Local Board have given notice of the intended audit of their accounts, and that their books will be open to the ratepayers for inspection for seven days previous to the 23 February 1869. Davenport explains that the Ratepayers Association do not consider that the seven days allow sufficient time for the ratepayers to examine the accounts, and that, as the examination by the Auditor occupies himself and two clerks for a period of three weeks, they think it only fair that the ratepayers should have the same time allowed to them. He requests that the Home Secretary will aid the Ratepayers Association in obtaining an extension of time to examine more carefully the accounts of the Local Board.
