To: The Local Government Act Office.
From: William Gate, Assistant Clerk of the Wallasey Local Board, Public Offices, Egremont, Birkenhead [Cheshire].
Subject Matter: Letter advising that the Wallasey Local Board, in executing certain works of private improvement, under Section 69 of the Public Health Act, in a street within their district, found it necessary - owing to a want of uniformity in the street itself - to alter its level. Gate explains that in consequence of such alteration certain property, it is alleged, has sustained injury, and the owner of the property claims, in respect of such injury, compensation from the Local Board. He enquires whether the Board ought, or ought not, to entertain the claim for compensation.
