To: The Local Government Act Office.
From: H A Ewer, Clerk of the Wallasey Local Board, Public Offices, Egremont, Birkenhead [Cheshire].
Subject Matter: Letter advising that in converting the Wallasey Pool into a dock, the natural drainage of certain lands and premises was impeded and the outlets stopped up. Ewer explains that the Wallasey Local Board therefore insisted upon the Mersey Board constructing a sewer to take the place, so far as such drainage was connected, of the Wallasey Pool. The sewer is said to have been constructed at the expense of the Mersey Board. He enquires whether, under the circumstances, the Mersey Board ought to be rated to the General District Rate in respect of permanent works of sewerage in the Seacombe division of the district, and whether any deduction should be made from the amount of the rates chargeable in respect of the premises of the Mersey Board along the margin of which such sewer is constructed.
