To: Wordsworth Harrison, The Lund, Ulverston [Lancashire].
From: Robert Rawlinson, Superintending Inspector, The Local Government Act Office.
Subject Matter: Draft letter acknowledging receipt of a letter dated 14 June 1870, relative to certain remarks in Rawlinson's report to the Home Secretary dated 8 June 1870. Rawlinson states that he will be prepared to defend his report as a whole. He explains that the opinion as expressed in the report is that of a Sanitary Engineer, 'and is not, of course, the opinion of a Lawyer'. He adds that he is not answerable for the publication of the report.
