To: The Home Secretary.
From: Robert Rawlinson, Superintending Inspector, The Local Government Act Office.
Subject Matter: Report upon an application from the Sewer Authority of Ulverston [Lancashire] for sanction to construct a main sewer-outlet to the sea, and an application from H W Askew, of Conishead Priory, to prevent the execution of such main sewer-outlet. Rawlinson reports, with reference to the sewerage works already carried out by the Sewer Authority at Ulverston, that he has 'never inspected works better designed and executed, or better fitted to accomplish their intended purposes - (namely) to free the entire district from nuisance - than these at Ulverston'. The works are said to be 'a credit to the Sewer Authority and to their Engineer'. He recommends that the Sewage Committee be permitted to use any monies in hand to pay for the completion of the outlet-sewer'.
