To: The Local Government Act Office.
From: Messrs Gray, Johnston and Mounsey, Solicitors, 5 Raymond Buildings, Gray's Inn, London.
Subject Matter: Letter acknowledging receipt of a letter dated 1 June 1870, enclosing a copy of a letter addressed to the Sewer Authority at Ulverston [Lancashire]. It is advised that Mr Askew will be engaged upon important business at Newcastle on the 7 and 8 June 1870, and that they would not be properly prepared for the inquiry by such an early date. They request that the inquiry is deferred for a day or so: - 'Mr Askew would be prepared to attend the inquiry on Friday the 10 June, if that day would suit'.
