Folios 446-447.
To: The Local Government Act Office.
From: John Poole, Clerk to the Sewage Committee of the Sewer Authority, Ulverston [Lancashire].
Subject Matter: Letter acknowledging receipt of a letter dated 10 August 1868, enclosing the sanction of the Home Secretary to the borrowing of £8500 by the Sewer Authority for the Town and Hamlet of Ulverston. Poole points out that the Town and Hamlet of Ulverston was not formed into a Special Drainage District under the provisions of the Sanitary Act 1866, but that it is a drainage district under the Sewage Utilization Act 1865. He suggests that it would therefore seem expedient that the word 'special', in the first line of the sanction, should be erased.
