Administrative / biographical background

The Quality Through People initiative was launched in 1988. The Quality Through People Office was responsible for raising the commitment to quality management and led to the establishment of sector businesses under the Organising for Quality process. The next stage in the process was the Quality Process Programme - sponsorship of specific projects for the continuous improvements of processes and services. In 1994 the European Quality Model was introduced and a self-assessment process, Business Excellence Verification, was developed. The Office closed in March 1996.
