Folios 114-115. Minutes of Cabinet, considering a report on the [Jacobite] prisoners sentenced to death by the Surrey Special Commission, prepared by [John] Sharpe. A reprieve was granted to 8 prisoners: John Sanderson; William Brittough, alias Bretter; Charles Deacon; James Wilding; Christopher Taylor; Thomas Furnival; Alexander Abernethy and James Gad. The remaining 9 prisoners should 'be left to the law': Francis Townley; David Morgan; George Fletcher; Thomas Deacon; James Dawson; Thomas Chadwick; John Berwick; Thomas Siddall; Andrew Blood, alias Blyde. Members present: Lord Chancellor; Lord President; Lord Chamberlain; Duke of Richmond; Earl of Chesterfield; Earl of Harrington; Mr Pelham; Duke of Newcastle; with Attorney General and Solicitor General attending. Dated at Whitehall [London, Middlesex].
