Folio 105. Petition of Alexander Abernethie, surgeon, to Sir William Lee, Chief Justice of the King's Bench. The petitioner claims that he was forced to join the rebellion by Lord Glenbucket who did not listen to any objections, including the fact that Abernethie's wife and four children relied on him for their well-being. He was given twenty-four hours to put his affairs in order and during this time Abernethie went to Lord Pitsligo to ask for his protection but Pitsligo said that he would not interfere with the activities of Glenbucket, though he did abhor his methods of forcing people to join the [Jacobite] rebellion.
