Description

Folios 98-101. Cabinet minutes concerning [Jacobite] rebels prisoners, and how to try them, referring to system of 'lots' used after 1715 and [Christopher] Layer's trial in 1722. John Sharpe tallies prisoners held in Tower of London [London, Middlesex], [New] Gaol Southwark [Surrey], Tilbury Fort [Essex], and transports on the river [Thames]. Orders list of prisoners held in Scotland northern counties [of England]; Scottish prisoners to be sent to Carlisle for trial. Inquiry into prisoners captured at sea from French and Spaniards. Mentions cases of [Charles] Radcliffe [alias Earl of Derwentwater]; Lord [John] Macleod; Mr [William] Murray [alias Marquis of Tullibardine, Duke of Atholl]; Lord Lovat; [Archibald] Stuart [Stewart], late Provost of Edinburgh. 'Evidence' [Samuel] Maddockes [Maddox] in Carrington's custody.
