Justices John Reed and Sir Edward Blackett to [Duke of Newcastle] concerning the information of [Jacobite suspect] James Wilson, saying that Nic [Nicholas] Joicy [Joucy], could not be gaoled because of overcrowded prison. Also reports that Sir John Swinburn, Thomas Swinburn, Ralph Widdington, Thomas Riddle and son, Edward Charlton, 'Duno' a reputed 'papist [Roman catholic]' priest, and Edward Charlton, 'with their servants, fowling pieces and Music, have met together upon pretence of shooting upon the moors', an 'indiscreet and insolent action at this particular time'. Mentions William Elliot and Thomas Collingwood, both now prisoners in Morpeth Gaol [Northumberland]; meeting, at Bellingham [Northumberland], Nic Joicy servant to Boury Charlton of Hepleside; and Mr Hodgson of Tone [Northumberland].
