Folio 20. Edward Wilson [to unknown] regarding his brother, Francis Wilson, a [Jacobite?] prisoner in York Castle [Yorkshire]. He refers to justices Mr Metcalf and Mr Hutton; and to Lancaster [Lancashire] deputy postmaster Mr Townson. Dated at the Rolls Buildings, London. Enclosures:
Folio 21. Case of Francis Wilson, apothecary and surgeon from Askrigg [Yorkshire], who's been detained as a 'popish recusant only'. Justifies journeys made, despite a restraining order, to Kettlewell [Yorkshire], and through 'mountainous, wild country called Cam [Fells]' with an express for General Wade at Durham [Durham].
Folio 22-24. Wilson's petition, 2 copies, referring to his detention on a warrant from justices John Hutton, Wingate Pulleyn, and Leonard Smelt; his wife and six small children; and his examination in York Castle by Henry Masterman.
