John Sharpe [Treasury Solicitor] to Duke of Newcastle on [Jacobite] trials held that day at St Margaret's Hill, Southwark [Surrey], reporting guilty pleas from Alexander Abernathy, James Gad, and Thomas Furnivall. Others in [list?] 'number 31', pleading not guilty, demanded defence witnesses. Decision on delaying proceedings for summoning witnesses deferred until tomorrow. Defence council: Mr?Lergt Wynne, Mr Clayton, Mr Henley, and Mr Perrot. For Crown: attorney general [Dudley Ryder], Sir John Strange, and solicitor general [William Murray], with Sir Rd [?Richard] Lloyd indisposed.
