[Treasury Solicitor] John Sharpe to Lord Chancellor [Hardwicke] on [Jacobite] trials held that day at St Margaret's Hill, Southwark [Surrey], reporting guilty pleas from Alexander Abernathy, James Gad, and Thomas Furnivall. Others in [list?] 'number 31', pleading not guilty, demanded defence witnesses. Decision on delaying proceedings for summoning witnesses deferred until tomorrow. Defence council: Mr?Lergt Wynne, Mr Clayton, Mr Henley, and Mr Perrot. For Crown: attorney general [Dudley Ryder], Sir John Strange, and solicitor general [William Murray]. Mentions James Stratton, the surgeon at Carlisle garrison. [Henry] Masterman will have drafts of the Special Commission for the courts ready to present to the Chancellor this morning.
