Administrative / biographical background

The TFB series was initiated by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (MPT). In 1974, the MPT was dissolved and its functions split between the Home Office and the Department of Industry. The Post and Telecommunications Division of the Department of Industry became responsible for the sponsorship of the new Post Office Corporation.
