The first of these two documents is a certificate from John Edmonds, clerk and John Byrtt (Burt) to the dean of the king's chapel. It sets out the pains they have gone to to get Lord Stourton to appear before them at Somerton, Ilchester and Wells, in Somerset, during Easter 1519 to give answer to the bill of 'a poor man' William Selwyn. He refused to do this and the endorsement indicates that Stourton was instructed to attend before the council in Hilary term next, under pain of £200. The case is in REQ 2/11/103 - Selwyn v Stourton concerning the lease of the manor of Aston Gray in Wiltshire. The remains of the signet seals of the commissioners are attached on a tag.
The second document is a writ of 10 May 1525 to William, abbot of Burton, Sir Anthony Fitzherbert, justice of the bench, and other commissioners, to enquire into the matter in an attached bill and to certify their findings to the council (presumably related to the same case).
