Following the formation of the Department of Prices and Consumer Protection in 1974, responsibility for policy on food prices passed to the department from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food. Within this new department, work on food prices policy was conducted by its Prices Policy Division 2 until about June 1976. Subsequently, this food policy file series was also used by the department's Food Prices and Distribution Division until 1977, and finally by its Consumer Services, Commodities and Consumer Credit Division until July 1979.
