The Litigation Division, which was established as a separate entity in 1965, provided advice to, and conducted litigation on behalf of client departments. The L series was begun in 1972 and continues in use to the present day. The scope of the business documented on L series files included common law; public inquiries; arbitrations; Lands Tribunals; Crown privilege and Chancery matters including charities, company and bankruptcy, patents and trade marks; planning appeals etc.
