Abstract of letters concerning 'Popish' [Catholic] schools on the continent, sent to Henry Sheldon; COALPITS, which 'seems to be in the Electorate of Cologne' [Germany], where Charles Roels is master, mentioning his friend Jurani, Mr de Marne 'from neighbouring Welsh Factory', Mayer, 'the Master of Higher Germany and to the R of Munich', Richardson, Byerly, Lawson, Kingdom, and Dormer who later went to St Omers [France], Mosely attending Westphaly, the 'Beggar Factory', and Mrs de Frosse; BLANDYKE [Blandecques, France?], mentioning school staff J Gifford, Talbot, Molien, Dormer, Jones, Brent, Plessington, Ellis, Williams, Kingdom, Newton, Petre Williams, Poole, Hanne, John Howard of Eccleston Lancashire and Mr Lancaster at his estate - pupils the sons of Sir Carnaby Haggerston, Sir Henry Bedingfield alias Clay, and Sir Marmaduke [unspecified surname] - and places, Douay [Douai, France?], and La Fleche [France?]; STEENDAM, where S Roberts, the Master, wants to transfer to Gravelines [Flanders]; HOLK [Netherlands], where Percy Plowden and one Tichbourne are masters, mentioning one Tinsdale of la Cocherie; LA COCHERIE [La Cochère, France?] mentioning Blakyston; GHENT [Belgium], Gillibrand concerning his brother who lives with Mr Chorley in Gray's Inn [London]; LOUVAIN [Belgium], Richard Knight; PARIS, George Hunter concerning John Dormer's son.
