Petition to the Duke of Newcastle from John McDonald a [Jacobite] prisoner aboard the Pamela lying off Tilbury Fort [Essex], saying he was forced to join the rebels, but rendered assistance to wounded soldiers. An endorsement by [Tilbury commander] Stratford Eyre verifies his claim to have assisted as an interpreter and in getting information from Highlanders. Filed with:
