Memorial for Richard Jack, stating his employment experience and offering his services, recalling that he was a teacher of mathematics and natural philosophy in Edinburgh, assisted in James Nimmo's company with fortification and gunnery during the siege of the castle, departed Berwick [Northumberland] for London with George Ker [Kerr] of Nisbet [Roxburghshire] and, on the way, advised on the defences of Newcastle [Northumberland].
