Petition, with medical statement attached, to the Duke of Newcastle from George Abernethie, a prisoner in the custody of the messenger Mr Vincent after release from New Gaol, [Southwark, Surrey], seeking 'the liberty of going to the country for two or three miles' on account of poor health. Enclosing:
Folio 38. Statement from [eminent physician] J Beauford confirming that Abernethie had 'so consumptive a disorder' that he needs country air if he is 'to hold out long'
