Memorial concerning acts of treason committed by John McDonald of Glengary [Aberdeenshire], prisoner in Edinburgh Castle, referring to his meeting with the Pretender [Prince Charles Edward Stuart] in Lochaber [Inverness-shire], and the orders he gave to his clan to join the [Jacobite] rebellion, mentioning his sons Angus and James, his father-in-law Gordon of Glenbucket, 'Jno [John] McDonald the younger of Lundie & McIlldonich', the Stradoun and Glenlevat men and the 'obnoxious', 'thieving' Glengarry men, the Camerons, and witnesses George Grant minister of Stradoun and Peter Grant alias McGrigor in Carndall [?]. Argues for timely action against Glengary as 'the only highland chief whose Estate is not forefeited', as well as those rebels still holding estates in Perth and Aberdeenshire.
