Folios 67-68. Draft of letter from Duke of Newcastle to Attorney General [Sir Dudley Ryder], advising that John Murray of Broughton, [Jacobite] prisoner in the Tower of London [London, Middlesex], is to be brought before the court of King's Bench. Recalls act of parliament attainting Murray, Alexander Earl of Kellie, and William Viscount of Strathallan, but noting that the Lord Justice Clerk [Andrew Fletcher, Lord Milton] has confirmed that Murray was in custody in Edinburgh Castle before the effective date.
