Folio 63. Copy of declaration of Heritors, Elders and Residenters in Lochbroom [Ross-shire]. They have discovered no evidence that Lord Cromartie or his son Lord [John] MacLeod forcibly enlisted to the [Jacobite] army, burnt houses, or stole cattle. They believe any of Cromartie's tenants forced into rebellion by violence were raised by Alexander MacKenzie of Ardloch [Perthshire] and Alexander MacKenzie of Keppoch [Inverness-shire], currently fugitives, who claimed to have Cromartie's warrant to raise men, but were unable to produce it.
