Folio 41. Copy of letter from Joseph Munro, Minister of Edderton [Ross-shire] to Sir John Gordon. False stories about [Jacobite] Lord Cromartie make his conduct in rebellion look worse than it was. Munro's mother wrote to Lady Cromartie requesting protection and was assured that his neighbours' safety was of profound importance to Cromartie. 60 men quartered at Munro's house instructed to pay for what they took. Surprised so little harm done by 'undisciplined and unruly' Highlanders when they left his home. He believes this was down to Cromartie's command. Dated at Edderton.
